QUICK DECISION

Four answers before reading the technical detail

This section supports initial screening; final grade, addition and effects require operating conditions, formal documents and plant validation.

01

What it is

A calcined-lime family for slag formation and basicity management in BOF, EAF and ladle metallurgy; reactivity, burn condition, sizing and handling state must be confirmed for the use point.

02

What it does

  • Slag formation
  • Basicity adjustment
  • Establishing conditions for impurity capture
03

Where it fits

  • Primary slag formation, tapping slag adjustment or ladle refining
04

Boundary not to miss

  • Hydration, over-burning or sizing mismatch can reduce effective reaction and increase dust or splash risk

SELECTION BOUNDARY

Start with the selection boundary

Metallurgical lime is not an alias for raw or light-burnt dolomite; their CaO/MgO sources, calcination state and lining-protection roles require separate accounting.

PRODUCT MANUFACTURING

Product manufacturing process

Calcined-mineral products generally pass through quarry and chemistry review, crushing and screening, controlled calcination, cooling, finished sizing, reactivity/calcination-state and chemistry testing, and moisture-protected logistics. Kiln type, temperature schedule, fuel and specific controls belong to the actual manufacturer's documentation and are not assumed here.

  1. 01Confirm quarry source, mineral identity, feed chemistry and foreign-material control
  2. 02Crush and screen to the feed sizing required by the kiln
  3. 03Calcine and cool under the actual practice while managing underburning, overburning and degradation
  4. 04Test chemistry, loss on ignition, reactivity/calcination state, sizing and moisture
  5. 05Store sealed and dry, identify lots and control ageing from production to use

SPECIFICATIONS & PACKAGING

Grades, specifications, indicators and packaging

The specification must use the applicable standard and actual TDS to fix CaO, MgO, SiO₂, S, P and other chemistry, together with loss on ignition, reactivity/burn condition, sizing, fines, moisture, degradation, packing and sampling method. The page publishes no unapproved chemistry or reactivity guarantee; lime, natural dolomite and light-burnt dolomite require separate acceptance.

  1. 01Confirm formal product identity, applicable standard, supplier grade and actual production route
  2. 02Fix principal chemistry, limiting items, physical indicators and the corresponding test methods
  3. 03Confirm form, size distribution, fines, moisture, flowability or unit mass for storage, handling and charging equipment
  4. 04Confirm pack, label, TDS, SDS/PSI, sampling rules and lot COA

GRADES & SPECIFICATIONS

Grades, specifications, indicators and packaging

Supply specifications, packaging, lead time and quality documents are subject to the formal quotation and order confirmation.

ORDER SPECIFICATION CONFIRMATION

What must be confirmed before this becomes an order specification

Supply specifications, packaging, lead time and quality documents are subject to the formal quotation and order confirmation.

  1. 01Confirm the product, grade, application and supply scope
  2. 02Fix guaranteed chemistry, sizing, form and packing in the quotation and order
  3. 03Agree sampling, test methods, acceptance rules and lot COA fields
  4. 04Confirm the required TDS, SDS/PSI, labels and delivery documents

SELECTION AND COMPARISON

Compare specification directions by indicators and operating conditions

Supply specifications, packaging, lead time and quality documents are subject to the formal quotation and order confirmation.

INDUSTRY APPLICATION

Industry, furnace, material and addition point

Confirm the process position before method and quantity calculations; an application relationship for one furnace or material must not be copied to another.

01

Steelmaking plants

Primary slag formation, tapping slag adjustment or ladle refining

Furnace / equipment
BOF, EAF, LF and ladle
Material / output
Carbon and alloy steel, plus reviewed stainless-steel slag systems

APPLICATION METHOD

Use scenarios, method, effect and risk validation

Metallurgical lime may be used for BOF, EAF and LF/ladle slag formation, but addition must be calculated from target slag mass/basicity after deducting charge, carryover slag and other CaO sources, then closed by slag samples. Qualified material can help establish the target slag; hydration, overburning, underburning or sizing mismatch can reduce reaction, increase dust/splash and affect slag/lining. No universal kg/t can guarantee the effect.

  1. 01Confirm steel grade, process point, equipment, initial state, process objective and prohibited conditions
  2. 02Check the actual SKU, lot COA, TDS, SDS/PSI and site history
  3. 03Run a small site trial from mass/heat balances or the equipment window without copying a fixed cross-plant dose
  4. 04Resample or record slag, steel, temperature, equipment response, defects and performance before approval, correction or stop

PROBLEM AND SOLUTION

From operating objective to effect verification

Each application explains the role, method, quantity principle and risk boundary; the final proposal is confirmed against operating conditions and lot documents.

01

Steelmaking plants

Primary slag formation, tapping slag adjustment or ladle refining

Furnace / equipment
BOF, EAF, LF and ladle
Material / output
Carbon and alloy steel, plus reviewed stainless-steel slag systems
Method
Add in batches or at approved points according to furnace, carryover slag, target slag system and lining, keeping wet material away from molten steel.
Quantity determination
Calculate from target slag mass and basicity after deducting charge, lining, recycled slag and other effective CaO sources, then correct from slag samples.
Expected effects
  • Helps establish the target slag system when chemistry, reactivity and charging practice are matched
Limits and risks
  • Hydration, over-burning or sizing mismatch can reduce effective reaction and increase dust or splash risk

STORAGE & SAFETY

Storage, handling and risk

  • Exclude rain and moisture to prevent hydration heat and caking; control alkaline dust and use PPE specified by the SDS.

This section does not replace the company's final SDS/PSI or the plant safety procedure.

REFERENCE AND ORDER BOUNDARY

Use industry references to understand, then order documents to confirm

Supply specifications, packaging, lead time and quality documents are subject to the formal quotation and order confirmation.

DOCUMENTS & MEDIA
