Start with the selection boundary

This page covers only milled and classified crystalline industrial-silicon powder. It is not microsilica/silica fume, silica powder, ferrosilicon powder, silicon-carbide powder, amorphous silicon, nanosilicon or polysilicon. Market 0–10, 0–20, 0–45 and 0–75 µm ranges are RFQ references only; an order must define the test method, full particle-size distribution, coarse-particle limit, chemistry, application-specific reactivity, safety documents and lot COA. PRODUCT MANUFACTURING

Product manufacturing process

Silicon metal powder is generally produced from confirmed industrial-silicon feed by enclosed crushing, milling, classification, homogenisation, representative sampling and sealed packing. Equipment, milling media and contamination control vary by producer and target particle size.

A powder specification must combine finished chemistry and particle-size distribution on the same lot basis, stating the test method, dispersion conditions, D10/D50/D90, top cut or oversize, coarse-particle limit, moisture, contamination control and pack. Mesh or 0–x µm alone is not a complete specification.

Storage, handling and risk

  • Keep dry, sealed and protected from contamination. A dust cloud may burn or explode; milling, conveying, screening, mixing and cleaning require powder-specific assessment of deposits, static, ignition sources and explosion-protected dust collection.
  • Never add wet material to molten metal. Transport classification, handling protection and emergency measures must be confirmed from the actual crystal form, sizing, test results, latest SDS/PSI, GB 15577 and destination rules.
