QUICK DECISION

Four answers before reading the technical detail

This section supports initial screening; final grade, addition and effects require operating conditions, formal documents and plant validation.

01

What it is

This page explains the product's principal composition, application directions and inquiry points; confirm the grade, guaranteed indicators, sizing, packing and process fit before quotation.

02

What it does

  • Graphite nucleation
  • Chill control
  • Ca/Ba active-element inoculation
03

Where it fits

  • Ladle, transfer, stream or in-mould inoculation point
04

Boundary not to miss

  • Incorrect selection or timing can cause under-/over-inoculation, slag entrainment, fade or structure variation

SELECTION BOUNDARY

Start with the selection boundary

Similar names, forms or uses do not make products interchangeable; confirm product identity, specification, application process and order documents separately.

PRODUCT MANUFACTURING

Product manufacturing process

A cast-iron inoculant is generally made from verified FeSi-base alloy and a controlled active-element system by a supplier-declared smelting or remelt-alloying route, then cast, cooled, crushed to narrow sizing, de-fined, homogenised, sampled and tested. Formula, feeds and active-element control are supplier-specific; this page does not depict a Jinsheng-owned line.

  1. 01Silicon-calcium-barium-aluminium inoculant must be verified as an active FeSi-base alloy dedicated to cast-iron inoculation and assigned a separate SKU from a steel-deoxidation grade with a similar chemical name.
  2. 02Confirm the FeSi matrix, active-element feeds, returns and supplier's formal formula identity
  3. 03Complete controlled smelting or remelt alloying and chemical homogenisation by the manufacturer's route
  4. 04Cast, cool, crush, screen to narrow sizing and remove uncontrolled fines
  5. 05Homogenise and sample representatively, then test active elements, sizing, moisture and pack

SPECIFICATIONS & PACKAGING

Grades, specifications, indicators and packaging

An inoculant requires a formal SKU by matrix, active-element system and addition point; similar chemistry does not make inoculation performance interchangeable. The supplier TDS, SDS, sample COA and purchase agreement must fix Si, Fe, actual Ca, Ba, Sr, Zr, RE, Bi and other active elements, Al and limiting residuals, size distribution, fines, moisture, pack, sampling and change control. No fixed values are assumed.

  1. 01The specification must fix Si, Ca, Ba, Al, the Fe matrix, other active/limiting elements, test methods, ladle/stream/in-mould sizing, fines, moisture and pack.
  2. 02Confirm grey iron, ductile iron or validated CGI use and the supplier's formal inoculant grade
  3. 03Fix the FeSi matrix, all active elements, limiting residuals and corresponding test methods
  4. 04Fix sizing, fines and moisture for ladle, stream, in-mould or another approved addition point
  5. 05Confirm moisture-protected pack, label, TDS, SDS, sample/lot COA and formula-change notification

GRADES & SPECIFICATIONS

Grades, specifications, indicators and packaging

Supply specifications, packaging, lead time and quality documents are subject to the formal quotation and order confirmation.

ORDER SPECIFICATION CONFIRMATION

What must be confirmed before this becomes an order specification

Supply specifications, packaging, lead time and quality documents are subject to the formal quotation and order confirmation.

  1. 01Confirm the product, grade, application and supply scope
  2. 02Fix guaranteed chemistry, sizing, form and packing in the quotation and order
  3. 03Agree sampling, test methods, acceptance rules and lot COA fields
  4. 04Confirm the required TDS, SDS/PSI, labels and delivery documents

SELECTION AND COMPARISON

INDUSTRY APPLICATION

Industry, furnace, material and addition point

Confirm the process position before method and quantity calculations; an application relationship for one furnace or material must not be copied to another.

01

Iron foundries

Ladle, transfer, stream or in-mould inoculation point

Furnace / equipment
Pouring system after cupola, induction or duplex melting
Material / output
Grey, ductile or compacted-graphite iron reviewed for melt S/O, temperature, section and target graphite form

APPLICATION METHOD

Application method and effect validation

The inoculation plan must be set from base-iron chemistry, S/O condition, temperature, holding and pouring time, section thickness, target graphite form and fade window. Validate a small trial by thermal analysis, wedge sample, microscopy and casting performance. Furnace silicon adjustment is not equivalent to pre-pour inoculation, and no fixed kg/t, chill reduction or graphite-count claim applies across iron types.

  1. 01Select the dedicated grade and addition point from base-iron S/O, temperature, section thickness, pouring time and target graphite; a furnace deoxidizer is not automatically an inoculant.
  2. 02Confirm iron type, base-iron S/O, temperature, section thickness, pouring time and target structure
  3. 03Check lot COA, sizing and dry condition and set a small trial from the site baseline
  4. 04Add uniformly at the approved ladle, stream, in-mould or post-inoculation point and record fade time
  5. 05Use thermal analysis, chill, graphite form/count, carbides, defects and performance to decide approval, correction or stop
  6. 06Validate by thermal analysis, chill, graphite form/count, carbides, fade and casting performance, with no fixed effect assumed for the Ba-Ca-Al system.

PROBLEM AND SOLUTION

From operating objective to effect verification

Each application explains the role, method, quantity principle and risk boundary; the final proposal is confirmed against operating conditions and lot documents.

Iron foundries

Ladle, transfer, stream or in-mould inoculation point

Furnace / equipment
Pouring system after cupola, induction or duplex melting
Material / output
Grey, ductile or compacted-graphite iron reviewed for melt S/O, temperature, section and target graphite form
Method
Select an actual SKU from base-iron condition, inoculation point, sizing and fade time; add uniformly and close the loop with thermal analysis, chill and microscopy.
Quantity determination
Determine by trials from base-iron condition, section, treatment point, active elements and fade window; this page provides no fixed plant-independent kg/t rate.
Expected effects
  • Supports graphite nucleation and chill control under validated iron conditions
Limits and risks
  • Incorrect selection or timing can cause under-/over-inoculation, slag entrainment, fade or structure variation

STORAGE & SAFETY

Storage, handling and risk

  • Keep dry and lot-segregated and prevent mix-ups; dust, fume and hot-metal charging controls must follow the SDS/PSI for the actual form and plant procedures.
  • Without a formal SKU, TDS, SDS/PSI and lot COA, no chemistry, grade, sizing, pack, stock, dose, recovery or performance is promised.

This section does not replace the company's final SDS/PSI or the plant safety procedure.

REFERENCE AND ORDER BOUNDARY

Use industry references to understand, then order documents to confirm

Supply specifications, packaging, lead time and quality documents are subject to the formal quotation and order confirmation.
