QUICK DECISION

Four answers before reading the technical detail

This section supports initial screening; final grade, addition and effects require operating conditions, formal documents and plant validation.

01

What it is

A nitrided-ferrovanadium family identified principally by V, N and an Fe matrix. It may support joint V and N addition after review of the actual grade, nitrogen uniformity and steel nitride design.

02

What it does

  • Joint V/N alloying
  • Solid nitrogen carrier
  • Candidate microalloying
03

Where it fits

  • Alloying or trimming after slag, oxygen potential, temperature and dissolution conditions are controlled
04

Boundary not to miss

  • Variable nitrogen recovery, excess addition or poor timing can cause porosity, coarse nitrides, embrittlement or chemistry excursions

SELECTION BOUNDARY

Start with the selection boundary

Nitrided ferrovanadium, ordinary ferrovanadium, vanadium-nitrogen alloy and nitride powder are not interchangeable by V or N alone. Check the Fe matrix, V/N budget, nitrogen uniformity and dissolution conditions.

PRODUCT MANUFACTURING

Product manufacturing process

The matrix, precursor, forming method, nitriding furnace, atmosphere and time-temperature practice of a nitrided alloy must be confirmed from manufacturer documents. A general high-level route includes feed acceptance and preparation, controlled nitriding, cooling while preventing reoxidation and moisture pickup, homogenising and classifying, representative sampling and lot testing. This page does not depict a Jinsheng-owned nitriding line.

  1. 01Nitrided ferrovanadium must be verified as a nitrided product based on ferrovanadium, with precursor grade, forming and nitriding route declared by the manufacturer; it must not automatically be treated as the same product as vanadium nitride alloy.
  2. 02Confirm feed identity, lot chemistry, form and the manufacturer-declared nitriding route
  3. 03Crush, screen or form by the actual process while controlling fines, oxidation and foreign contamination
  4. 04Nitridise within the manufacturer's specified equipment, atmosphere and time-temperature window
  5. 05Cool under control, homogenise, sample and test nitrogen, carrier elements, phase, sizing and pack

SPECIFICATIONS & PACKAGING

Grades, specifications, indicators and packaging

The specification must state nitrogen content, carrier-alloy matrix and nitrogen phase/release behaviour together; the product name alone is not a grade. The applicable standard, supplier TDS, SDS/PSI, sample COA and purchase agreement must fix principal elements, N, C, Si, Al, P, S, O and other limits, phase/nitrogen uniformity, test methods, form, sizing, fines, moisture, pack and lot traceability. No unverified values are assumed.

  1. 01The specification must fix V, N, the Fe matrix and C, Si, Al, P, S, O and other limits together with phase/nitrogen uniformity, form, sizing, fines, moisture and pack.
  2. 02Confirm the formal name, applicable standard, feed identity, nitriding route and supplier grade
  3. 03Fix carrier elements, N, C, Si, Al, P, S, O and other limits and test methods
  4. 04Confirm phase/nitrogen uniformity, form, sizing, fines, moisture and agglomeration limits
  5. 05Confirm moisture- and oxidation-protected pack, label, TDS, SDS/PSI, COA and change control

INDUSTRY APPLICATION

Industry, furnace, material and addition point

Confirm the process position before method and quantity calculations; an application relationship for one furnace or material must not be copied to another.

01

Steelmaking plants

Alloying or trimming after slag, oxygen potential, temperature and dissolution conditions are controlled

Furnace / equipment
BOF/EAF tapping, LF/ladle or a process-reviewed secondary-metallurgy route
Material / output
Applicable steel with defined nitrogen target, nitride design and C/Si/Mn/Cr/V carry-in limits

APPLICATION METHOD

Application method and effect validation

When a nitrided alloy is applied, mass-balance the carrier metal and N separately and review the steel grade or refractory system, initial and target chemistry, measured lot values, nitrogen phase and release, temperature, oxygen potential, slag, dissolution and historical recovery. Run a controlled trial and validate nitrides, porosity, structure and performance; no fixed kg/t, recovery or effect value is published.

  1. 01When used as a combined V/N carrier for a reviewed steel, balance V and N separately and include rolling, controlled cooling or heat treatment in the process review.
  2. 02Confirm the target system, initial and target carrier elements and N, and other limiting elements
  3. 03Check lot COA, phase, form and dry condition, then complete separate elemental mass balances
  4. 04Run a controlled trial within the approved temperature, oxygen potential, slag and addition point
  5. 05Resample to verify chemistry, nitrides, porosity, structure and performance before approval, correction or stop
  6. 06Verify V/N recovery, nitrides/carbonitrides, porosity, structure and mechanical properties; precipitation-strengthening magnitude is not inferred from the product name.

PROBLEM AND SOLUTION

From operating objective to effect verification

Each application explains the role, method, quantity principle and risk boundary; the final proposal is confirmed against operating conditions and lot documents.

01

Steelmaking plants

Alloying or trimming after slag, oxygen potential, temperature and dissolution conditions are controlled

Furnace / equipment
BOF/EAF tapping, LF/ladle or a process-reviewed secondary-metallurgy route
Material / output
Applicable steel with defined nitrogen target, nitride design and C/Si/Mn/Cr/V carry-in limits
Method
Choose dry, compatible sizing and an addition point from lot-measured chemistry; control dispersion, dissolution and stirring, then close the loop with a steel sample.
Quantity determination
Mass-balance every effective and restricted element separately, let the first element to reach a grade limit set the addition cap, and use site-validated recovery; this page publishes no fixed kg/t.
Expected effects
  • Supports joint alloying-element and nitrogen adjustment in a validated practice
Limits and risks
  • Variable nitrogen recovery, excess addition or poor timing can cause porosity, coarse nitrides, embrittlement or chemistry excursions

STORAGE & SAFETY

Storage, handling and risk

  • Keep dry and lot-segregated and prevent mix-ups; dust, fume and hot-metal charging controls must follow the SDS/PSI for the actual form and plant procedures.
  • Without a formal SKU, TDS, SDS/PSI and lot COA, no chemistry, grade, sizing, pack, stock, dose, recovery or performance is promised.

This section does not replace the company's final SDS/PSI or the plant safety procedure.

REFERENCE AND ORDER BOUNDARY

Use industry references to understand, then order documents to confirm

Supply specifications, packaging, lead time and quality documents are subject to the formal quotation and order confirmation.
