QUICK DECISION

Four answers before reading the technical detail

This section supports initial screening; final grade, addition and effects require operating conditions, formal documents and plant validation.

01

What it is

A ductile-iron nodulariser family identified principally by an Mg-FeSi system, without rare earth as a default required component. It is managed separately from rare-earth magnesium-ferrosilicon nodulariser.

02

What it does

  • Magnesium nodularising treatment
  • Spheroidal graphite formation
  • Non-rare-earth default route
03

Where it fits

  • Treatment-ladle, cover-ladle or another validated magnesium-treatment point
04

Boundary not to miss

  • Magnesium reaction, fume, splash and hot-metal risks require SDS and plant controls; both excess and deficiency can lose structure control

SELECTION BOUNDARY

Start with the selection boundary

Similar names, forms or uses do not make products interchangeable; confirm product identity, specification, application process and order documents separately.

PRODUCT MANUFACTURING

Product manufacturing process

A cast-iron treatment alloy is generally made from a verified FeSi matrix and Mg, RE, Ca or other active elements by a supplier-declared controlled smelting, remelt-alloying or another verified route, followed by casting, cooling, crushing, screening, homogenising and testing. Actual addition method, furnace and controls for reactive elements must be documented by the manufacturer; this page does not depict a Jinsheng-owned line.

  1. 01Magnesium ferrosilicon nodulariser must be verified as an Mg-FeSi/FeSiMg system for ductile-iron treatment under a formal supplier grade, with RE, Ca and other reaction-modifying elements declared.
  2. 02Confirm the FeSi matrix, active elements, returns and product-use identity
  3. 03Follow manufacturer documents for controlled smelting or remelt alloying and manage reaction and homogeneity
  4. 04Cast, cool, crush and screen while controlling fines, oxidation and moisture pickup
  5. 05Homogenise and sample representatively, then test active elements, sizing, safety and pack condition

SPECIFICATIONS & PACKAGING

Grades, specifications, indicators and packaging

A treatment alloy requires an SKU by target iron, active-element system and treatment method. Formal documents must fix Si, Fe, Mg, RE, Ca and other active/limiting elements, matrix and phase, form, sizing, fines, moisture, pack, sampling, TDS, SDS/PSI and lot COA. This page does not present a family name or reference chemistry as a company stock grade.

  1. 01The specification must fix Mg, Si, Fe and actual active/limiting elements such as RE, Ca and Al, phase, sizing, fines, moisture, moisture-protected pack, SDS/PSI and lot COA.
  2. 02Confirm ductile iron, CGI or another validated iron type and the supplier's formal treatment-alloy grade
  3. 03Fix Mg, RE, Ca, Si, Fe and all limiting elements and test methods
  4. 04Fix form, sizing, fines and moisture for pour-over, sandwich, wire-feeding or another approved practice
  5. 05Confirm moisture-protected pack, label, TDS, SDS/PSI, lot COA and formula-change control

ORDER SPECIFICATION CONFIRMATION

What must be confirmed before this becomes an order specification

Supply specifications, packaging, lead time and quality documents are subject to the formal quotation and order confirmation.

  1. 01Confirm the product, grade, application and supply scope
  2. 02Fix guaranteed chemistry, sizing, form and packing in the quotation and order
  3. 03Agree sampling, test methods, acceptance rules and lot COA fields
  4. 04Confirm the required TDS, SDS/PSI, labels and delivery documents

SELECTION AND COMPARISON

INDUSTRY APPLICATION

Industry, furnace, material and addition point

Confirm the process position before method and quantity calculations; an application relationship for one furnace or material must not be copied to another.

01

Iron foundries

Treatment-ladle, cover-ladle or another validated magnesium-treatment point

Furnace / equipment
Dedicated treatment ladle after cupola, induction or duplex melting
Material / output
Ductile-iron melt reviewed for base S/O, temperature and target residual Mg

APPLICATION METHOD

Application method and effect validation

The treatment plan must be based on base-iron chemistry, S/O, temperature, treatment-ladle layout, iron mass, target residual active elements and historical recovery. Use measured lot values for the mass balance and validate reaction intensity, residuals, graphite form, slag entrainment and performance in a small trial. Different iron types and treatment methods do not share a fixed kg/t, recovery or effect claim.

  1. 01For ductile-iron treatment, design the small trial from base-iron S/O, temperature, iron mass, treatment-ladle layout, target residual Mg and historical recovery.
  2. 02Confirm iron type, base-iron S/O, temperature, iron mass, target residual elements and structure
  3. 03Check lot COA, sizing and dry condition and complete the mass balance with site historical recovery
  4. 04Run a small trial with the approved ladle layout, cover, pour-over or feeding sequence and control the reaction
  5. 05Verify residuals, nodular/compacted state, graphite form, slag entrainment, defects and performance
  6. 06Monitor Mg reaction, fumes and splash and verify residual Mg, nodularity/graphite form, slag entrainment, defects and performance; no fixed kg/t or nodularising result is promised.

PROBLEM AND SOLUTION

From operating objective to effect verification

Each application explains the role, method, quantity principle and risk boundary; the final proposal is confirmed against operating conditions and lot documents.

01

Iron foundries

Treatment-ladle, cover-ladle or another validated magnesium-treatment point

Furnace / equipment
Dedicated treatment ladle after cupola, induction or duplex melting
Material / output
Ductile-iron melt reviewed for base S/O, temperature and target residual Mg
Method
Arrange the actual treatment alloy for the ladle and reaction-control method; after treatment, deslag, inoculate separately and verify residual Mg, thermal analysis and microscopy.
Quantity determination
Calculate from base-iron S/O, treatment temperature, target residual Mg, lot-measured Mg/RE and site-validated recovery; this page publishes no fixed rate or guaranteed effect.
Expected effects
  • Builds the target spheroidal graphite form under closed-loop control
Limits and risks
  • Magnesium reaction, fume, splash and hot-metal risks require SDS and plant controls; both excess and deficiency can lose structure control

STORAGE & SAFETY

Storage, handling and risk

  • Keep dry and lot-segregated and prevent mix-ups; dust, fume and hot-metal charging controls must follow the SDS/PSI for the actual form and plant procedures.
  • Without a formal SKU, TDS, SDS/PSI and lot COA, no chemistry, grade, sizing, pack, stock, dose, recovery or performance is promised.

This section does not replace the company's final SDS/PSI or the plant safety procedure.
