QUICK DECISION

Four answers before reading the technical detail

This section supports initial screening; final grade, addition and effects require operating conditions, formal documents and plant validation.

01

What it is

An iron-based titanium-alloy family for Ti alloying, nitrogen fixation, grain and inclusion design in selected steel grades; Ti grade, Al/Si/C/N/O residuals and addition point require grade-specific review.

02

What it does

  • Titanium alloying
  • Nitrogen fixation and precipitation control
  • Support for grain and inclusion design
03

Where it fits

  • Late alloying after adequate deoxidation and slag control
04

Boundary not to miss

  • Early addition, high oxygen potential or excess Ti can cause low recovery, Ti oxide/nitride clustering, castability or performance problems

SELECTION BOUNDARY

Start with the selection boundary

Ferrotitanium is only for grades with an explicit Ti metallurgy design; it is not a routine addition to every RH, VD, AOD or LF heat and is not automatically interchangeable with ferrotitanium cored wire.

PRODUCT MANUFACTURING

Product manufacturing process

Feeds and smelting routes for special ferroalloys vary by alloy system and producer and may use electric-furnace reduction, metallothermic reduction or another route verified by standards/supplier documents. Commercial preparation generally includes feed review, controlled reaction or smelting, slag/metal separation, casting/cooling, crushing/screening, representative sampling and lot testing. The page does not assume Jinsheng owns such a line.

  1. 01Confirm target-element feed, iron source, reductants, fluxes and actual route
  2. 02Run the controlled electric-furnace or metallothermic reaction under manufacturer documents, managing temperature and homogeneity
  3. 03Separate slag/metal, cast or form, cool and segregate the lot
  4. 04Crush, screen and sample representatively, then test principal elements and limiting residuals
  5. 05Pack by grade, sizing and order requirement with traceability

SPECIFICATIONS & PACKAGING

Grades, specifications, indicators and packaging

A ferrotitanium specification must use GB/T 3282—2012 and actual supplier documents to fix Ti and the iron matrix and control Al, Si, C, P, S, N, O and other grade-sensitive residuals, together with form, sizing, fines, pack, sampling and COA. The page does not present standard grade ranges as Jinsheng guarantees and assumes no Ti content.

  1. 01Confirm formal product identity, applicable standard, supplier grade and actual production route
  2. 02Fix principal chemistry, limiting items, physical indicators and the corresponding test methods
  3. 03Confirm form, size distribution, fines, moisture, flowability or unit mass for storage, handling and charging equipment
  4. 04Confirm pack, label, TDS, SDS/PSI, sampling rules and lot COA

GRADES & SPECIFICATIONS

Grades, specifications, indicators and packaging

Supply specifications, packaging, lead time and quality documents are subject to the formal quotation and order confirmation.

ORDER SPECIFICATION CONFIRMATION

What must be confirmed before this becomes an order specification

Supply specifications, packaging, lead time and quality documents are subject to the formal quotation and order confirmation.

  1. 01Confirm the product, grade, application and supply scope
  2. 02Fix guaranteed chemistry, sizing, form and packing in the quotation and order
  3. 03Agree sampling, test methods, acceptance rules and lot COA fields
  4. 04Confirm the required TDS, SDS/PSI, labels and delivery documents

SELECTION AND COMPARISON

INDUSTRY APPLICATION

Industry, furnace, material and addition point

Confirm the process position before method and quantity calculations; an application relationship for one furnace or material must not be copied to another.

01

Steelmaking plants

Late alloying after adequate deoxidation and slag control

Furnace / equipment
LF, post-RH ladle, post-VD or reviewed steel-foundry ladle
Material / output
IF/HSLA, stabilized stainless and other Ti-designed steel grades

APPLICATION METHOD

Use scenarios, method, effect and risk validation

Ferrotitanium is used for IF/HSLA, stabilized stainless or another steel with a Ti metallurgy design, generally added late in the ladle after adequate deoxidation and slag control. Calculate from net Ti increase, lot Ti and site recovery while coordinating O/N/Al, dissolution and rolling/heat treatment. A matched practice can support nitrogen fixation, precipitation and grain design; early/excess addition or high oxygen potential can lower recovery and create Ti oxide/nitride, castability or performance risk. Verify steel samples, inclusions and performance.

  1. 01Confirm steel grade, process point, equipment, initial state, process objective and prohibited conditions
  2. 02Check the actual SKU, lot COA, TDS, SDS/PSI and site history
  3. 03Run a small site trial from mass/heat balances or the equipment window without copying a fixed cross-plant dose
  4. 04Resample or record slag, steel, temperature, equipment response, defects and performance before approval, correction or stop

PROBLEM AND SOLUTION

From operating objective to effect verification

Each application explains the role, method, quantity principle and risk boundary; the final proposal is confirmed against operating conditions and lot documents.

01

Steelmaking plants

Late alloying after adequate deoxidation and slag control

Furnace / equipment
LF, post-RH ladle, post-VD or reviewed steel-foundry ladle
Material / output
IF/HSLA, stabilized stainless and other Ti-designed steel grades
Method
Choose timing and form from Ti, N, O, Al and precipitation design, ensuring rapid immersion, dissolution and mixing while limiting reoxidation.
Quantity determination
Calculate from net Ti increase, measured lot Ti and site recovery, with Al, Si, C, N and O carry-in as constraints.
Expected effects
  • Can establish target Ti and support precipitation, grain or stabilization design when chemistry and thermomechanical practice match
Limits and risks
  • Early addition, high oxygen potential or excess Ti can cause low recovery, Ti oxide/nitride clustering, castability or performance problems

STORAGE & SAFETY

Storage, handling and risk

  • Keep dry and control crushing dust; hot-steel addition must prevent bridging, splashing and undissolved large pieces.

This section does not replace the company's final SDS/PSI or the plant safety procedure.

REFERENCE AND ORDER BOUNDARY

Use industry references to understand, then order documents to confirm

Supply specifications, packaging, lead time and quality documents are subject to the formal quotation and order confirmation.

DOCUMENTS & MEDIA

Images, TDS, SDS and COA

Document availability depends on the product, lot, destination market and order agreement.

TDS

Confirms product identity, guaranteed indicators, sizing, form and packing.

SDS / PSI

Confirms storage, handling, protection and market-specific safety information.
