QUICK DECISION
Four answers before reading the technical detail
This section supports initial screening; final grade, addition and effects require operating conditions, formal documents and plant validation.
01
What it is
Used to adjust carbon in steel or iron; selection must reflect feedstock, furnace, absorption conditions and limits on sulfur, nitrogen and ash.
02
What it does
Adjustment of carbon content
Carbon-equivalent control
Charge-balance correction
03
Where it fits
Charging and melting, or reviewed final-carbon trimming; injection carbon and foaming-slag carbon require separate SKUs
Charging, mid-melt and pre-tap trimming
Charging, melting and pre-tap adjustment
04
Boundary not to miss
Absorption, S, N, ash and flotation losses change the outcome
Different feedstock types are not interchangeable on fixed carbon alone
High ash or poor dissolution may increase slag and absorption variation; review S, N and other residuals separately against the material and defect risk
SELECTION BOUNDARY
Start with the selection boundary
“Carbon raiser” is a product family, not one SKU. Before launch, define the actual graphitized, CPC, CAC or other offerings and fix carbon, S, N, ash, volatile matter, moisture, sizing and test method for each.
PRODUCT MANUFACTURING
Product manufacturing process
Carbon raisers may be produced from graphitised petroleum coke, calcined petroleum coke or calcined anthracite. The route affects fixed carbon, sulfur, nitrogen, ash, porosity and absorption, so the routes must not be merged into one SKU.

SPECIFICATIONS & PACKAGING
Grades, specifications, indicators and packaging
Key indicators include fixed carbon, ash, volatiles, S, N, moisture, size and absorption. Absorption is a furnace/practice validation result, not a fixed material guarantee.
01First distinguish GPC, CPC or CAC route
02Check FC, S, N, ash and moisture
03Match charge mix and sizing
04Confirm pack, storage and lot traceability

ORDER SPECIFICATION CONFIRMATION
What must be confirmed before this becomes an order specification
Supply specifications, packaging, lead time and quality documents are subject to the formal quotation and order confirmation.

INDUSTRY APPLICATION
Industry, furnace, material and addition point
Confirm the process position before method and quantity calculations; an application relationship for one furnace or material must not be copied to another.
01
Steelmaking plants
Charging and melting, or reviewed final-carbon trimming; injection carbon and foaming-slag carbon require separate SKUs
Furnace / equipment
EAF; tapping/LF trimming only under an approved practice
Material / output
EAF steels and grades requiring carbon correction
02
Steel foundries
Charging, mid-melt and pre-tap trimming
Furnace / equipment
EAF and coreless induction furnace
Material / output
Carbon and alloy cast steels requiring carbon adjustment
03
Iron foundries
Charging, melting and pre-tap adjustment
Furnace / equipment
Induction and duplex routes; cupola use is practice-dependent
Material / output
Base iron for grey, ductile, CGI and alloyed cast iron
APPLICATION METHOD
Application method and effect validation
Calculate from the required net carbon increase, fixed carbon and site absorption. Charging, melting and final trimming use different practices; injection carbon and foaming-slag carbon require separate SKUs.
01Confirm initial/target C and carbon carried by charge
02Select product route, size and addition timing
03Calculate using a consistent decimal mass-fraction basis
The public external reference helps explain a similar product or typical process; it is not evidence of a Jinsheng-owned line, stock or customer site.
PROBLEM AND SOLUTION
From operating objective to effect verification
Each application explains the role, method, quantity principle and risk boundary; the final proposal is confirmed against operating conditions and lot documents.
01
Steelmaking plants
Charging and melting, or reviewed final-carbon trimming; injection carbon and foaming-slag carbon require separate SKUs
Furnace / equipment
EAF; tapping/LF trimming only under an approved practice
Material / output
EAF steels and grades requiring carbon correction
Method
Add in staged amounts when wetting, dissolution and stirring are favorable; late trimming must avoid flotation and chemistry non-uniformity.
Quantity determination
Use decimal mass fractions consistently. General equation: ⟦m_add(kg) ≈ m_melt(t) × 1,000 × Δw_C ÷ (w_C,product × η_C)⟧. The net-increase term means target C minus predicted C after charge carbon and decarburisation; enter all mass fractions as decimals, for example 0.10 wt.% as 0.001. Review S/N limits separately.
Expected effects
Adds target carbon and corrects charge carbon balance
Limits and risks
Absorption, S, N, ash and flotation losses change the outcome
02
Steel foundries
Charging, mid-melt and pre-tap trimming
Furnace / equipment
EAF and coreless induction furnace
Material / output
Carbon and alloy cast steels requiring carbon adjustment
Method
Choose charge layering and timing from the feed mix and target carbon, allowing enough time for dissolution, sampling and recheck.
Quantity determination
Calculate from target carbon difference, fixed carbon and measured furnace-specific absorption.
Expected effects
Establishes target carbon content
Limits and risks
Different feedstock types are not interchangeable on fixed carbon alone
03
Iron foundries
Charging, melting and pre-tap adjustment
Furnace / equipment
Induction and duplex routes; cupola use is practice-dependent
Material / output
Base iron for grey, ductile, CGI and alloyed cast iron
Method
During charging, maximize contact with the metallic charge; late trimming requires control of size, bath surface, stirring and remaining holding time.
Quantity determination
Calculate from charge carbon, target C/carbon equivalent, fixed carbon and trial-verified absorption. For ductile iron/CGI, also review S, N and anti-nodularising residuals.
Expected effects
Adjusts carbon and carbon equivalent for a stable base iron
Limits and risks
High ash or poor dissolution may increase slag and absorption variation; review S, N and other residuals separately against the material and defect risk
STORAGE & SAFETY
Storage, handling and risk
Keep dry and control dust; feedstock types differ in dissolution, absorption and S/N risk.
