QUICK DECISION

Four answers before reading the technical detail

This section supports initial screening; final grade, addition and effects require operating conditions, formal documents and plant validation.

01

What it is

An aluminium-manganese ferroalloy family covered by YB/T 6143—2023 and produced by electric-furnace remelting.

02

What it does

  • Combined deoxidation
  • Joint aluminium-manganese adjustment
  • Controlled inclusion and recovery management
03

Where it fits

  • Combined tap deoxidation or ladle-alloying stage
04

Boundary not to miss

  • A fixed Al/Mn ratio may not match the steel target; excess or poor timing can create residual-Al, inclusion or nozzle-clogging risk

SELECTION BOUNDARY

Start with the selection boundary

Aluminium-manganese ferroalloy is not an automatic substitute for ferroaluminium, ferromanganese or manganese-silicon-aluminium alloy. Check target Al/Mn, oxygen potential, inclusion route, casting conditions and C/Si/P/S budget together; no grade, dose or recovery is promised without a formal SKU/TDS/COA.

PRODUCT MANUFACTURING

Product manufacturing process

Aluminium-manganese-iron alloy may be made from a verified feed system by electric-furnace remelting or another supplier-declared controlled alloying route, followed by casting, cooling, crushing, screening, homogenisation and lot testing. Actual charge mix, temperature practice and refining steps are governed by the manufacturer's process documents.

  1. 01Inspect the identity and lots of aluminium, manganese and iron feeds and any returns
  2. 02Batch to the confirmed formula and use electric-furnace remelting or the declared controlled alloying route
  3. 03Control melting, alloy homogeneity, slag entrainment and casting
  4. 04Cool, crush, screen, homogenise and sample representatively
  5. 05Test Al, Mn, Fe, accompanying elements, sizing and pack

SPECIFICATIONS & PACKAGING

Grades, specifications, indicators and packaging

The applicable standard, supplier TDS and purchase agreement must jointly fix Al, Mn and the Fe matrix, while listing C, Si, P, S and application-specific impurities, sizing, fines, packing and sampling method. A family name does not replace a formal grade and lot COA.

  1. 01Confirm the applicable standard revision, supplier's formal grade and product route
  2. 02Check agreed Al, Mn, Fe, C, Si, P, S and other indicators
  3. 03Set lump sizing, fines limit and within-lot homogeneity for the charging equipment
  4. 04Confirm pack, moisture control, SDS, sampling rules and lot COA

GRADES & SPECIFICATIONS

Grades, specifications, indicators and packaging

Supply specifications, packaging, lead time and quality documents are subject to the formal quotation and order confirmation.

ORDER SPECIFICATION CONFIRMATION

What must be confirmed before this becomes an order specification

Supply specifications, packaging, lead time and quality documents are subject to the formal quotation and order confirmation.

  1. 01Confirm the product, grade, application and supply scope
  2. 02Fix guaranteed chemistry, sizing, form and packing in the quotation and order
  3. 03Agree sampling, test methods, acceptance rules and lot COA fields
  4. 04Confirm the required TDS, SDS/PSI, labels and delivery documents

SELECTION AND COMPARISON

Compare specification directions by indicators and operating conditions

Supply specifications, packaging, lead time and quality documents are subject to the formal quotation and order confirmation.

INDUSTRY APPLICATION

Industry, furnace, material and addition point

Confirm the process position before method and quantity calculations; an application relationship for one furnace or material must not be copied to another.

01

Steelmaking plants

Combined tap deoxidation or ladle-alloying stage

Furnace / equipment
BOF/EAF tapping, LF/ladle and reviewed secondary-metallurgy routes
Material / output
Steel grades requiring joint Al/Mn addition with defined residual-aluminium, inclusion and casting risks

APPLICATION METHOD

Application method and effect validation

For combined deoxidation or simultaneous Al and Mn adjustment, balance Al and Mn separately and include melt oxygen, initial chemistry, slag condition, measured product values and site recovery. The first element to reach the grade limit determines the maximum addition; a furnace-independent fixed rate per tonne is not valid.

  1. 01Confirm steel grade, initial and target Al and Mn, endpoint oxygen and impurity ceilings
  2. 02Calculate net Al and Mn increases separately and set the cap from the limiting element
  3. 03Select addition point and sizing against slag, temperature and stirring
  4. 04Resample to verify Al, Mn, oxygen, inclusions and final performance

PROBLEM AND SOLUTION

From operating objective to effect verification

Each application explains the role, method, quantity principle and risk boundary; the final proposal is confirmed against operating conditions and lot documents.

01

Steelmaking plants

Combined tap deoxidation or ladle-alloying stage

Furnace / equipment
BOF/EAF tapping, LF/ladle and reviewed secondary-metallurgy routes
Material / output
Steel grades requiring joint Al/Mn addition with defined residual-aluminium, inclusion and casting risks
Method
Confirm grade and addition point from steel O, S, Al, Mn, temperature and slag; use the tapping stream or controlled stirring for dissolution, then close the loop with steel samples and inclusion/casting performance.
Quantity determination
Calculate net Al and Mn needs separately, let the limiting element set the dose, and check measured product chemistry, plant recovery and C/Si/P/S carry-in.
Expected effects
  • Provides combined deoxidation and joint Al/Mn adjustment in a designed practice
Limits and risks
  • A fixed Al/Mn ratio may not match the steel target; excess or poor timing can create residual-Al, inclusion or nozzle-clogging risk

STORAGE & SAFETY

Storage, handling and risk

  • Keep dry, segregated and identified, controlling crushing dust; follow the actual-product SDS/PSI and hot-metal charging procedures.

This section does not replace the company's final SDS/PSI or the plant safety procedure.

REFERENCE AND ORDER BOUNDARY

Use industry references to understand, then order documents to confirm

Supply specifications, packaging, lead time and quality documents are subject to the formal quotation and order confirmation.
